During the past year, property prices in Skellefteå have increased by up to 25 percent.
According to Dagens Nyheter (DN), house prices in Skellefteå have increased by 18.5 per cent and apartments by 25.1 per cent, which is
significantly more than the national average.
At least 3,000 people will be employed at the Northvolt battery factory in Skellefteå, with the resulting influx of new people being a major contributory factor to the overheating housing market. But the pressure on Skellefteå housing has also affected Piteå property prices.
In Piteå, the average house is now 18.3 percent more expensive than last year and has an average price of just over two million kronor. Stefan Bergstedt, a broker at Fastighetsbyrån in Piteå, told DN that the housing shortage in Skellefteå, which is only an hour away, is a contributing factor to the increase. “The whole Skellefteå region is growing, and it’s spilling over to our municipality as well,” he says.
.Ulrika Markgren, pastor of Skellefteå parish, has warned those who want to get married in a church this year to book soon.
“The pandemic made many people move their weddings back,” she says. But now the pandemic restrictions have been lifted, bookings in 2022 have skyrocketed.
“There has been at least a doubling in the number of bookings this year,” says Ulrika. So, the message seems to be, if you really want a church wedding this year, you’d better get your skates on!
