Christmas markets
November 26 – Solbacken
Take your children to meet Father Christmas and his reindeer at Solbacken. Bring your wish lists and be on your best behaviour. Swedish Christmas fika treats such as glögg, lussebullar, pepparkakor are also available.

November 27 – Skyltsöndag
On the first advent Sunday this outdoor market fills up the streets in town with homemade bakes, toffees, hand knitted woollen socks and mittens. Arrive in time to hear the carol singers and join hands for a dance around the Christmas tree. The highlight for children, though, will be the reindeer, Sami tent and Father Christmas.

December – Slottet
The Christmas displays at Skellefteå’s oldest garden centre (pictured, above) are a must-see, sprinkled with beautiful decorations, lights, Christmas trees, candles and gifts. There is even a storytelling Father Christmas inside.

December 4 – Nordånå Christmas Market
Traditional wooden stalls hung with lights and decorations line the gardens of Nordånå (pictured, right). Dress up warm and have your Swish app at the ready for some

Moose Safari

Micklebo Animal farm – November 26,27, December 3,4,10,11,17, and 18
A mini zoo with 30 different species, from smaller petting animals such as chinchillas and rabbits to alpacas and highland cows. The cafe serves warm locally sourced food and be sure to check out the farm shop. There’s so much good farm produce for sale! Seriously, dig in!

From November 27 – Julstaden
On the first Advent Sunday, Skellefteå museum once again opens the gingerbread house exhibition, Julstaden.
The exhibition is made up of lots of gingerbread houses made by children in Skellefteå. The exhibition will open with a workshop for kids to build their own gingerbread houses, from 12pm to 4pm, so bring along all your young, aspiring biscuit architects! The Julstaden exhibition runs to January 15, 2023.
Time: The workshop runs from 12pm-4pm on Sunday, November 27. Otherwise, the museum’s usual opening hours apply.
