Norrland Living Heroes – an occasional series on people who helped make the idea of Norrland Living into a reality and, by doing so, have helped Norrland newbies settle in Skellefteå.
Name and title: Saleta Beiro – Communicator at Visit Skellefteå
Background/where were you born and brought up: Born and raised in Pontevedra, Galicia, a region by the Atlantic Ocean in the north-west of Spain. There I worked as a graphic designer and moved to Skellefteå to learn English and to have a gap year. 13 years later I am still here 😉.
I really enjoy handicrafts and I believe that buying craft supplies and then actually using them are two entirely different hobbies!
Even though I grew up by the coast, and sailing is very common in Galicia, my very first time sailing was in Skellefteå. My partner and I own a cute sailing boat and we maximize our staycations in the archipelago.
Your Secret Skellefteå tip:
There are seventeen nature reserves in the Skellefteå municipality, but the Kalvträsk area is one of my favorites. The longest hike is a circular loop of a total of about 30 km. A visit to the top of the Vitbergen mountain in Kalvträsk is a must – there you can go up to the old 20-meters-high fire tower above the treetops. The view is stunning!
