’Julbords for all’
Welcome to our winter issue! Our last Norrland Living of the year is also the largest – a whopping 52 pages. But, like a Christmas lunch glutton, we’ve still not been able to cram quite all the content into the magazine that we wanted to. We didn’t have room for our Julbord recommendations in our holiday season special section, so we’ll just have to squeeze them in here.
For those of you unaware of the Julbord, it’s a Swedish Christmas culinary tradition, a buffet of the best Swedish food – you can expect salmon, cooked and smoked, cheeses, Christmas ham, pickled herring, meatballs, Västerbotten cheese pie and a variety of salads. A good Julbord is a real treat and here are our four favourites.
First, we have the long-established Din Fest, which has terrific restaurants at Campus Skellefteå and Skelleftehamn (dinfest.se), then Rustique, down on the Skellefteå river (restaurangrustique.se), the MS Stormvind, which offers julbord on board a boat on the frozen Skellefteå river (search for MS Stormvind on Facebook) and, last but not least, Nordanå Garden which is offering a modern twist on Julbord (nordanagarden.se). You won’t go wrong with any of these.
Finally, you might have noticed a Swish QR code on our cover this month . We’re 100% self-funded, so if you like this winter issue, please feel free to donate a small sum to help us keep the wolf from the door. We’d be very grateful. Anyway, have a great holiday season and a fab new year!
